During those times, slides were just straight ones, mana ada yang spiral2 ni. I have always wanted to go down on one just to know how it feels. But my age does not permit me to do so, followed by my weight as well as my husband. I understand his plight every time I asked to go on a slide at any playgrounds with the kids, before I could say anything he would "...please la, awak dah besar la, and this is for kanak2 shj." Besar could be interpreted as besar dari segi size dan juga besar dari segi umur. He prefers to remain vague in this stance. Cis!
the weekend before puasa, I managed to convince him to let me go down one a spiral slide after he saw it could carry my besar issue. I bought the ticket via Groupon days before and all of us were too excited to weeee down. I am such an addict to Groupon! They always offer irresistable deals which grant little people like me the experience to indulge in big places that I know I could not afford on any normal days.
I was quite skeptical at first. This IS the tallest slide in the world stretching 5 storeys high and 50 metres long. But after watching a few kids before our turn who went down very slowly in the tube on the green mat, I was ok with the thought of shooting down the confined alley. I was concerned because I had with me my handbag which equalled the size of a medium hand luggage with leftover food squashed inside. But the bro kat situ cakap, "...tak per makcik, boleh peluk kuat-kuat beg tu." Makcik? nasib baik tak pakai baju kurung, if not mesti dah kena panggil opah! another cis!
My kids went down first with my husband waiting at the other end. When it was my turn, the bro kat situ cakap "...untuk orang besar, kita bagi lagi best. Kita guna kain lapik lain, kain hitam." Before I could ask what difference it would make, the bro said ready? and he pushed me down. I held on to my bag and could not even scream for my life because it went like an orbing machine. Swoosh swooosh swooosh and I was terpelanting to the other end. The world went spinning on me for awhile. You are not advised to stand immediately, especially a makcik like me. It had me laughing after with my kids relating how fast we went and what fun we had. My husband too got on it and enjoyed the ride down. If it wasn't that expensive we would have probably gone on it 10 more times after the first try.
The other end. Waiting for the sight of my husband. I had this fear that he might choose to orb to some place else in this orb machine. lol!
If you would like to give this ride a try, make sure you go during the happy hour, much cheaper. If not it would cost you RM12 each. But thanks to Groupon, everyone in the family get to catch a ride in the tallest slide.
The Lex slide can be found at the Empire Shopping Gallery Subang Jaya.
