All Awake Now

"Wake up, wake up Mi!" I quivered as I tried to control my reactions after being exposed to such atrocities of the world. I wanted my husband to watch what I had just watched and to realize how complacent and how accepting we have been to the wrong things that have been fed to us in all our waking years.

It took me a few days to finish the whole compilation, watching each 10 minute episodes in between solat, sick kids and cakes. Each episode revealed new information and by the the end of the series, I couldn't close my eyes without relaying this to as many people I know. It is not just a quest, it has become my responsibility to spread and share true words from experienced people.

I am not famous neither am I influential. But if my words before this have touched you in some ways, please please take time to watch and listen to what these people are fighting for. We are not too little to make a change or too small a group to move an idea. Every iota of effort counts.

Please promise me you will watch till the end and if later you are still not convinced, then you may walk out.

InsyaAllah the time you invest in watching will be rewarded in ways unbeknownst to you.

This is the link which will direct you to the discussed issues. If you don't own much time, please watch The Arrivals" first. Open as many new tabs and let the videos finish buffering. It may take a few hours before you can watch each episode uninterrupted.

I would like to invite all, regardless of race, colour, social status and religion to watch. And I hope someday we may understand each other better and focus more on our similarities instead of bickering on our differences.

Ps. Thanks for the link Salina.

If I Were Rich...

I often catch myself saying that wherever and whenever inadequacy speaks louder than actions. The hand wants to extend longer to the needy, to help as much as I could afford but sometimes the hand does fall short and walking with short hands isn't a pretty feeling. It's that feeling of not doing enough, of not being good enough.

I wished I had more, instead of just enough for the family so I am able to buy from everyone of the makcik and pakcik yang jual keropok and kerepek. I wished I had more so I could give to the blind and the disabled without falling short myself. I wished I had more so I could spare some amount to the orphans without thinking if I had enough for the week. I just wished I had more so I could bank in an acceptable figure to my parents every month.

While waiting for "more" to come insyaAllah, I have been using the very least of what I have, to make merry the orphans in Kajang. I have been making them little cakes for their iftars. It's not much, I know, but at least it has left a sweet taste each time I came for a visit and hopefully it has in one way or another put a smile on their faces.

I wished I could hand out many of the little cakes to other charitable organizations around the area. But honestly, I can't afford to be a Lone Ranger for this. I would like to invite you, those who have a little bit of extra to join me in this effort. Perhaps, if you would like to participate, you are so welcome to buy a box or two of the little cakes and I will help you deliver them to the selected special people. I have identified a few that might need the extra cheer this Ramadhan, amongst them are rumah orang2 kurang upaya, orang2 tua and pusat remaja2 yang bermasaalah.

If you feel at ease with the idea, then you are invited to email me your order. Each box contains 49 pcs of my muffs and they are selling for 40rgt each. This includes the delivery to the respective places. But if you are bigger at heart you might want to donate 3 boxes per trip with the special price of 100rgt for the 3 boxes. You can also personalize a message which will be written on a Hari Raya Card and passed to the group of people you would like to donate.

My short hands are ready and ever willing to be extended this Ramadhan. And let's make dua that our good will and warm thoughts are beautifully received by the ONE whom we constantly seek help and forgiveness from. Amin.

Thanks so so much.

Thanks Puan Maya!

Let There Be Flowers In Your Heart

...this Ramadhan.

My kids have been counting the days to the emergence of Ramadhan. And this morning my son woke up with"...hati anin ni dah ada bunga2 mama sebab esok dah nak puasa, yey!" It's probably going to the surau meeting his friends and the seemingly special food on the table that please him the most. My daughter on the other hand, was not really looking forward to puasa this time around. It is a reminder for her that UPSR is just around the corner.

For me, Ramadhan often presents the time for yours truly to rest and take the role of a homemaker rather than a homebaker to the fullest. I miss to just bake and cook for the family and what I miss most is probably of not being so uptight about things. Someone I love dearly lamented the other day how uptight I have become and painted the person I never thought I was. It saddens me for awhile to learn of how I was perceived all these time but it got me into thinking that maybe I was indeed a cookie monster who was oblivious to the self destruction mode I switched on, hence the blue colour ;o). The operative word is letting go. I need to just let go as I inhale and exhale slowly.

I surely think I have now.

Thanks Chu for the order!

Amin.

...that's what you are.

From Suhail to the love of his life. Only Suhail can fill the cards with words from his heart. Thanks so much Suhail.

I love receiving orders from the boy to the girl, from the husband to the wife, from the brother to the sister. It says a lot about a person, about these special few men specifically, who took the extra time and effort to write to me and discuss their orders in great lengths and details. Not many men I know would commit to such a beautiful gesture.

In my many years of baking, out of 1000 people, only 10 were men. They became my knights whose jobs were to sweep their loved ones feet away. And needless to say I would often walk the extra mile just to make the cakes more than the eyes could see and the heart could fathom.

To the recipients, please please know that you are amongst the lucky few to be loved and adored by these men you called husband, brother or boyfriend.

And to these men, I salute you.

From Santhana to his Sister. Not many brothers would be as thoughtful. Thank you Sir for the order!

From Zafy to his Sweetheart. If you look at Zafy, you will know he is capable of even more sweetness. Thanks Zafy!

From Muhzil to the girl he adores. Muhzil sent his love all the way from a foreign country. Thanks Muhzil!

From a boy to a girl. I knew not who ordered these but what I know, she must be very special to him.
