Part 2 : Street Fit For A Shopping Queen.

Queen Street, Auckland's main street is home to many restaurants, shops, boutiques and entertainment centres. It offers a cosmopolitan experience much similar to other world reknown shopping streets like Oxford street in London, Fifth Avenue in New York, Orchard Road in Singapore and our very own Bintang Walk!

After the rejuvenating hot chocolate and biskut crackers, we loaded ourselves back in the van and headed straight to the happening Street. I was supposed to meet a fellow blogger Dee here but we arrived at the meeting place more than 2 hours late.(Sorry Dee) Anyway, Queen Street was indeed a very happening street for us ladies but "wished it didn't happen" for the men!(laughs) It was simply endless walking, perpetual window shopping and butt swaying for everyone. There wasn't a fullstop to the shops, rows and rows of them and we could hear ourselves saying to the men and kids,"...after this traffiq light, kiter stop k," but of course we lied ha ha ha with "...sikit je lagi, dah nak sampai dah" Our parents called it quits halfway and we left them on the bench outside the Star Mart. We reassured them that we would be back soon, but we forgot to mention the time. So to our surprise when we went to fetch them, they were no where to be seen! We had thought so much that they had probably walked back to the van. When later we saw our van passed us by with my yeop driving to pick us up but without our parents in it. Arrrgh! A few minutes later an sms from my dad "...We were freezing and we decided to walk back to the van, tapi when we got there the van dah tak de. Kami dah tak nak jalan lagi, kami dah penat." I screeched, ran to catch the van driven by yeop who could never seem to stop properly due to the traffiq. We practically had to chase him all over Queen's Street. My sis during the waiting and the chasing sempat pergi beli cookies for herself lagi ha ha ha. We managed to get everyone on the van and drove around looking for our parents. It was funny how a big group spotted running, huffing, whilst posing for cameras, in between shopping and munching, could stay sane together.

So here's a lil bit of Queen Street folks.

My parents and kids taking a breather.

My parents trying to catch up with the rest of the gang.

Part of the group, the rest insisted to stay anonymous, like we don't know who they are!

My son suddenly refused to continue walking. He said "...kaki anin dah tumbuh bulu kenin." Ha ha ha, I didn't know where he got that idea. Maybe he wanted to say that his bulu roma all standing up due to the very cold weather.

Night time was like 5 pm here! We paced our steps quicker to finish window shopping. This was the place we left our parents. And as you can see, they were missing. Sempat tangkap gambar dulu before panicking he he he.

Special poses from the hobbits.

P.S. Dee, I'm sorry that we couldn't meet up that day. I felt really bad. I still have your sambal in my fridge. We'll meet up when you are back here ok, maybe at Nando's? he he he

Oh my gosh! England, that's cool, did you visit that famous guy's grave? And walk on that street from the Beatle's photograph? You're not a pathetic adult, I think you're so cool [an accomplished teacher and cake decorater] and you're one of my favorite blogs! Keep writing!

Good Lookin said...

Oh, sorry, I completely didn't realize you lived in Malaysia. I live in the U.S. [we're so ignorant].

Hart - It wasn't so cute if you could see my parents face ha ha ha. Thanks it was indeed a lot of fun.

Good Lookin - Queen Street is in New Zealand. So I guess we didnt get to visit any famous person's grave or walk the street that the Beetles walked. Have you gotten my cakes yet?

Shiro - Cenderahati ni it works as an exchange kinda thing. So what would you want to exchange with me? Nak marah la ni. I have been making you cakes and cakes and breakfast and cakes for the past 2 semesters, lotih la.

Kak Wiz,
Haha shopping spree nampak? Beli tingkap ek? ;)
If I am there, it is not going to be shopping spree, it is snapping spree; snapping here and there until someone snapped hahaha! Needless to say, snapped someone will be snapped as well :P
I bet your mum and dad had their own version of adventure, no? Why don't you post about it as well?

Keep 'em coming kak :)

Azie, bukan macam best, memang best. Rugi you all tak ikut. Teacher dah cakap simpan duit jgn asik gi alamanda and times square and beli famous amos. Teacher ikat perut dua tahun nak gi sini and alhamdulillah sampai pun. Remember, if you put your mind to do something, you will eventually get it done.

Nina - Me too, I don't quite like Auckland, tak bersih sgt and the people are superficially friendly. You don't get to feel the genuine warmth from them. But the rest of the country is beautiful, not many people around tho. I reckon the sheep are friendlier than the people there. There were a few friendly ones and most are the Maoris, very cute people.

Akmal - I don't dare asking for their adventure la, takut kena sembur ha ha ha. I don't think there was any other than "we had to walk uphill for the car and it was cold and the car was gone" kinda adventure. But they did look cute resting and waiting for us to fetch them kat tepi building tu. Sian my parents.

hmm..beznyer... NZ.. how long will you be there?

Wiz said...

Dearest Ammar,

I have lived my youth with stories abound. It is not my time now Ammar but it's yours. You are living it and I believe you are also destined for greatness. It's your time to share your stories with your friends and if you don't mind with this soapy ancient teacher who has nothing better to do but be proud of her students.

So, go out, leap high and once you have reached the stars, don't forget to look down once in a while, I'll be waving at you from down here. :o)

Warmest Regards

It's summer here in the UK and winter there in NZ. Yeah you deserve the all important holiday after so much effort and time on baking, and all those franticness. Now it's the time to enjoy the sight seeing,to lean back and chill out! Have fun!
