All That Glitters Is Not Gold

I have quite a few customers who requested to have a golden cake or at least golden flowers to adorn their cream coloured cake. Gold is a difficult colour to concoct. It would normally just turn yellowish, brownish or orangish, even if I sprinkled some glitter dust on, it would still fail to look like gold. The only solution is to use the (?) carot gold powder, diluted with alcohol or lemon extract and paint on the said object. The great solution comes with a hefty price of course. A 5gm of powder costs around Rm60. I do understand my customers' predicament of not wanting to indulge in the gold dust but sometimes it leaves me with not many choices in creating the desired masterpiece.

The above cake carries maroon and gold theme. I tried substituting the golden dust with ribbons and paper of gold colour as embelishments around the cake. Hope the cake fits in with the rest of the hantaran and deco.

Thanks Kak Zie for this order.
